Privacy Policy
OUR
PLEDGE
The protection of
personal identifying information is an ongoing challenge for consumers, the
government, and the private sector. The information we collect provides
significant benefits. It helps us to understand your financial needs, improve
products and services, comply with laws, enhance customer service and protect
you against fraud. We at First Colebrook Bank remain committed to our
long-standing history of ensuring the privacy of customer information.
Preserving trust and confidentiality is essential to our business.
We
do not disclose any non-public personal information about you to anyone, except
as permitted by law...
- to make it possible
for us to provide you with the services or products you have requested;
- to companies that
perform marketing services on our behalf;
- to other financial
institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. For example, with a
secondary market mortgage company to process real estate loan
applications.
To the extent that
applicable state law has more restrictive protections than those described in
this notice, we will comply with its requirements.
This privacy policy
applies to all current and former customers.
NON-PUBLIC PERSONAL
INFORMATION
Non-public personal information means financial
information that is identified with you that is not obtainable from a public
source. For example, your account balance is non-public information. On the
other hand, the fact that you have a mortgage loan with us is public
information because your mortgage is recorded at the County Registry of
Deeds.
What follows are some examples of instances where information
will be shared with other entities in order to provide you with the service(s)
you've requested. These are just some of the examples. There are others that we
have not addressed here.
INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
We collect
personal information when you open an account, submit a loan application to us,
rent a safe deposit box, or obtain other products and services. We collect
personal information about your transactions with us and others. We may also
obtain information from other sources; for example, we may obtain a credit
report on you when it is appropriate for the services you have
requested.
We share your personal information with others in order to
provide the services you request. For example, when you open a checking
account, we have to order your checks from a check supplier since we do not
print checks in our bank. For these types of accounts, we need to share your
name, address and account number with that supplier. We also need to share
information with an attorney or an appraiser when you finance a purchase
through us.
We must also share information about you when it is legally
required. For example, we use your Social Security number to let the IRS know
the interest you paid on your mortgage so that you can use the interest as a
tax deduction, if appropriate.
If you decide to close your account(s) or are no longer an active customer, we will retain your records for as long as required by law. We will continue to treat your personal information as described in this notice, as amended from time to time.
MEDICAL INFORMATION
In
instances where you provide us with medical information such as on an
application for credit life insurance on a mortgage, we will share the
information with the agent who will obtain the insurance. We will not share
this medical information with anyone else.
SECURITY PROCEDURES
We also restrict access to your personal and account
information to those employees who need to know the information in order to
provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in place that comply with federal regulations to guard your non-public personal
information. We continually strive to enhance procedures to safeguard your
personal non-public information.
CREDIT REFERENCE
Should
you desire to have information about your accounts at the bank shared with
others, we will only do so with your signed authorization. For example, if you
give the First Colebrook Bank to a third party as a credit reference, you will
be asked to authorize the release of information. Consent from one of the joint
owners will be deemed effective for all account
owners.
OTHER
We will do our part to maintain the
confidentiality of your information; you can help protect yourself from fraud
by not divulging sensitive information to others as well.
INCORRECT
INFORMATION
If you believe your personal information maintained at
the bank is incorrect, please contact us immediately.
